Cathedrals are a new boy-girl duo out of San Francisco making pop of biblical proportions, fresh on the scene with a debut offering in “Unbound” that shines as one of the best unsigned tracks of the year. The shimmering handpicked intro brings to mind Clock Opera‘s more introspective moments while belying the massive chorus that lies ahead, as the track drifts forward like dust swirling in sunlight. Then the chorus drops in like a slow-motion plunge into the abyss and the track is on its way, ultimately coming to rest somewhere between dulcet tones of Beach House and grandiose chamber pop of London Grammar upon its conclusion.
