Word of our latest Neon Golden girl has been spreading like wildfire these past few weeks, so it’s high time we introduce you to Loui Rose Allen, set to join our family tree with the release of her debut single in the new year. Known on the streets as Foxes, this 22-year old superstar in waiting writes leftfield pop anthems with the kind of infectious ambition that has desk-strapped A&Rs foaming at the checkbook. Nowhere is this more evident than on her endlessly uplifting debut single “Youth”, which we might tell you sounds like a bittersweet fusion of Ellie Goulding and Clare Maguire (and yes, Kate Bush) if we weren’t ourselves sick of the never-ending carousel of comparisons that befalls every new female vocalist’s entry to the pop world these days.

As the grinding industrial percussion and resplendent synths cross paths right before your very eyes, Foxes gentle deliver each verse like a tiny bombshell that slides down and explode silently in your chest, wreaking havoc on your heartstrings. the adrenaline-pumping drums and Miike Snow piano stabs that beat hard and steady like a heart in control. But it’s only a matter of time before the floodgates collapse under the overflowing emotion and sonic teardrops, resulting in an all-out waterfall of pop goodness. “Youth” has enough of an idiosyncratic allure and high repeat to hold you over until the single drops in January on, you guessed it, Neon Gold.
